JILLIAN P. HARRIS joined FERRUZZO in 2014, as an associate after working for the firm as summer law clerk in 2013. Ms. Harris was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and admitted to the California bar is 2014. She earned her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from UCLA in 2011.
During law school, Ms. Harris gained experience at various state and federal agencies. She externed for the Hon. Luis Rodriguez in the Orange County Superior Court as well as Administrative Law Judge Richard Clark in the U.S. Department of Labor. Ms. Harris also clerked in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in addition to the Health, Education, and Welfare Section of the California Attorney General’s Office. She developed her passion for pro bono legal work as the Warrant Director for Homeless Legal Services in San Francisco. In 2014, Ms. Harris graduated from University of California, Hastings College of the Law with Pro Bono Distinction.
Ms. Harris supports the litigation and employment practice groups at FERRUZZO. She defends and advises employers on workplace discrimination, harassment, wage and hour violations, and unfair business practices. Emphasizing dispute prevention, Ms. Harris works closely with clients to counsel them on employee hiring, termination, discipline, independent contractor status, government tax audits, and regulatory compliance. Ms. Harris also handles commercial litigation including contract disputes, fraudulent transfer actions, real estate matters, and bankruptcy adversary proceedings. Ms. Harris currently resides in downtown Long Beach. She is passionate about yoga, backpacking, and training for half marathons.
