Vasko R. Mitzev is a partner with FERRUZZO. He was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and immigrated to Los Angeles in 1979, two years after his parents escaped the Communist regime. He received his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 1993. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Ohio State University in 1999 and was admitted to the California State Bar in June 2001, District of Columbia Court of Appeals in 2004, and United States Supreme Court in 2010.
During law school, Vasko served with a legal team in the property management arm of Nationwide Insurance, and negotiated and arbitrated commercial real estate contracts and leases. After graduating from law school, he marketed and organized a pre-IPO division of Owens-Corning, and directed teams there in a large-scale asbestos class action litigation and claims administration.
Vasko is in the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group and he focuses on commercial litigation and trial work. Vasko has extensive first and second chair trial experience in commercial litigation and defending employment claims, catastrophic personal injury and product liability matters. He regularly defends civil and administrative claims against automotive dealership clients and environmental actions involving governmental regulatory agencies. He also represents real property owners in commercial land use, lease, zoning, partition and easement disputes.
